Separate no-crank from crank-no-start
Tell us whether the engine turns normally without starting or does not turn at all. Note clicks, dash messages, temperature and how long the vehicle sat.
If the symptom disappears before the appointment, the timeline and existing test results are still useful. Record what changed without clearing diagnostic information just to make a warning disappear.
Expect testing before a parts decision
Several systems can cause an intermittent starting concern. A part selected solely because the vehicle eventually started may not address the cause.
Some faults need additional observation or testing under the conditions that trigger them. Ask which findings are confirmed and what remains uncertain.
Make the vehicle available safely
Tell us where the car is parked and whether it can be moved. Arrange property permission and access to the keys.
Diagnosis, any replacement parts and additional repair work should be distinguished in the estimate. The location and application determine whether the next step is mobile or shop-based.
